Cheeky Choccy Porridge

Well it’s starting to feel a lot like winter, Yep it barely drops below 10 degrees here but to me that is freezing!! 😉

In winter that’s when my smoothie mornings turn to porridge mornings (although I still enjoy my smoothies in winter, sometimes I drink them while I’m showering under boiling hot water… Strange I know)

Oats are an amazing breakfast, they are full of fibre, low GI, and so they keep you full all morning, plus they’re pretty impossible to stuff up..

So here’s a quick recipe for a little naughty porridge recipe I made not long ago 🙂

Here’s what you need ::

1/2 cup rolled oats

1 cup water

1/2 cup almond milk (I use pure harvest- no added cane sugar)

1 tablespoon LSA

1/2 banana- sliced

Handful of frozen blackberries

3 peices of loving earth chocolate (or any dark chocolate)

1 heaped tsp of nut butter (I’ve used mayvers chocolate hazelnut butter- healthy version of Nutella)

1 Tbsp of coconut flakes

1 Tbsp cacao nibs

How to make!

1. Add the oats to a pot over medium heat, add the water. Allow water to boil, stir occasionally .

2. Wait until the water absorbs and keep stirring, once the oats have softened (maybe 5 minutes) then stir in a little of the almond milk  (save some for serving). If cooked to your liking pour into a bowl.

3. Pour remaining almond milk over, top with the banana, berries, LSA, cacao nibs, coconut, nut butter, and grate the chocolate over the top. Enjoy!

You can also add a touch of sweetener if you would like, but the chocolate should give it enough sweetness 💕
Anyway, hope you enjoy this quick easy and delicious recipe!

I’m so grateful for all the amazing support about my ebook! And so so excited! Plus I will still be putting up some recipes on my blog, like this one, while I’m working on my ebook 😄

Have a wonderful day!

Yummy…I love warm bowls in the morning…I get too cold drinking shakes in the morning, but I don’t like them room temperature…never crossed my mind to drink in the shower! Cheers to staying warm while drinking a frozen morning shake.

Hi Elsa, I absolutely adore your blog! I’m trying to decrease my meat intake (with the ultimate goal of becoming a full vegetarian) and your recipes have made the transition so much easier! Two questions:
    1) What is LSA?
    2) I’ve noticed a lot of vegetarian bloggers don’t seem very concerned about their fat intake (most of their recipes seem to include generous serving of nuts/seeds/nut butters/avocado/coconut products) and I find it hard to imagine they stay within the recommended daily fat intake of 33-78 grams. Do you have any estimate of how many grams of these healthy fats you consume each day? Are vegetarians exempt from the usual daily recommended fat intake? I’ve been pondering this one forever and would love your input!
    Thanks so much!

    1. Hey Erin! That’s great, everyone should eat more plant based meals! Is so good for you, the environment, and the animals 🙂 ok so firstly LSA is a linseed sunflower seed almonds 🙂 well it definitely is important so not overeat fats, but in saying that, the fats in plant based foods (nuts, avo) are unsaturated fats, the healthy fats, while the fats in meat dairy butter etc are mostly saturated so they should definitely be restricted. I don’t count how much I eat, but I know the fats I eat are good for me so I’m not overly concerned, I just try not to go overboard on the nuts seeds and oils at every meal 🙂 Hope that helps!
